Hi everyone… Anyone up for a quick swap?

This swap is about our favorite leftover in November… The Turkey.

Any fly type is allowed, but it has to have some turkey material in there. It can be quill, marabou, tail, etc. And no–it doesn’t have to be from the actual turkey you had at the Thanksgiving table. (The truth be told…we get our turkey at the grocery store.)

Time to be creative. If a fly is made from duck, why not try turkey? If you usually try pheasant, how about the other dark meat? Maybe create a whole different fly?

This sign up is for 10 swappers since we have a short time frame. Flies are due to me the week after Thanksgiving. The usual apply: return postage, good box, toe tag, etc. Thanks.

Hey Diane,

This post has been up all day and I’m the first to jump on it. Unbelievable! I just happen to have some nice turkey feathers and a favorite fly to tie with them. Sounds like fun.

Trout Fry is waiting for approval of his screen name and fax number of FAOL, so I’m jumping ahead a little and adding him to the swap.

Seeing the quality of tiers on this swap I am very nervous about saying this but what the hey count me in. You all need to see how a fly should not be tied right LOL I will do a hares ear nympth. Let me check my hooks before I say what size.

Hi Diane,
New to this board…can I play too?
Would like to tie a fly that I created for our local streams. It’s called “Hopping Caddis”. It is tied on a #10 Dry Fly Hook and uses local whitetail deer and turkey harvested here at home. Thanks, butternut-tyer

I’ve changed my mind. Looks like I can get two swaps out of here tomorrow to clean the slate. I’ll do a Brimagator, a great turkey feather fly. JGW

I got Bassman’s flies today. They look great. Son thinks they are exotic and unique.

I saw a hopper on the water one time with his wings spread out trying to get off the water and I tried to imitate it, not a real good imitation though. John

I think it’s a darn good immitation. The hoppers we have here grow large with couple layers on wings on each side, throw in the cover for the wings, and it looks like what you have. As soon as the sun comes up, I want to try one.

They do work pretty good here. I have caught trout, gills and bass on them. Thanks again John

I’m tied. Where do I send them. I tried to send a PM to you but I couldn’t get past some wierd thing I’m supposed to do despite what JC and the others said in my Sound Off post. So rather than use that thing I’ll just post here. JGW

I have them tied up and they will be shipped out in the morning. I tied a Turkey Tail (pheasant tail) with a autumn twist.
