This swap is about our favorite leftover in November… The Turkey.
Any fly type is allowed, but it has to have some turkey material in there. It can be quill, marabou, tail, etc. And no–it doesn’t have to be from the actual turkey you had at the Thanksgiving table. (The truth be told…we get our turkey at the grocery store.)
Time to be creative. If a fly is made from duck, why not try turkey? If you usually try pheasant, how about the other dark meat? Maybe create a whole different fly?
This sign up is for 10 swappers since we have a short time frame. Flies are due to me the week after Thanksgiving. The usual apply: return postage, good box, toe tag, etc. Thanks.

This post has been up all day and I’m the first to jump on it. Unbelievable! I just happen to have some nice turkey feathers and a favorite fly to tie with them. Sounds like fun.
Seeing the quality of tiers on this swap I am very nervous about saying this but what the hey count me in. You all need to see how a fly should not be tied right LOL I will do a hares ear nympth. Let me check my hooks before I say what size.
My flies are in the mail. I included extra for a great Swapmeister. I do not include one to be sent back to me. Thanks again for letting me join in on this fun swap. John
Hi Diane,
New to this board…can I play too?
Would like to tie a fly that I created for our local streams. It’s called “Hopping Caddis”. It is tied on a #10 Dry Fly Hook and uses local whitetail deer and turkey harvested here at home. Thanks, butternut-tyer
ok I will be tying a size 14 haresear nympth reciepe as follows
tail-brown hackle
body-haresear dubbing natural
rib-gold tinsil
shellback-turkeywing
throx-haresear dubbing
Hey hope you got to try that boo out diane. Good day for it today and the river is looking good last time I went by it. Let us know
Thanks for the update Diane, I am glad they arrived ok. Thanks again for letting me join in on this swap.
I saw a hopper on the water one time with his wings spread out trying to get off the water and I tried to imitate it, not a real good imitation though. John
I think it’s a darn good immitation. The hoppers we have here grow large with couple layers on wings on each side, throw in the cover for the wings, and it looks like what you have. As soon as the sun comes up, I want to try one.
I’m tied. Where do I send them. I tried to send a PM to you but I couldn’t get past some wierd thing I’m supposed to do despite what JC and the others said in my Sound Off post. So rather than use that thing I’ll just post here. JGW
