Learn fly rod weight

Another question I had on my “How To Measure For a Tip Top” thread was to determine the weight rating of that particular rod. The rod is an H & I Queen Elizabeth powerglas 6 3/4 ft 2 piece. It also has the number 1200 on the label. Three inches are broken off the tip. I searched the web and found this tutorial and want to share it here in case someone else has the same question. Jim

That is very similar to the Common Cents System, or CCS developed by Dr. Bill Hanneman who is a member on this board. You can find more info on that system, which is also designed to determine the action, even esoteric things as ‘feel’. There are also methods described for determining what number a line is.
