Had to be in central Iowa on Saturday, so I drove up from St Louis on Friday evening. Made it into town with enough daylight left to hit a local public pond before dark. After sorting through about a hundred Bluegills, I finally managed to catch what I was hoping for…Flyrod Species #82 for 2024… Pumpkinseed Sunfish! Beautiful fish
Made it back to St Louis on Saturday night. Sunday I decided to not spend so much time in the car, and just fish for something much closer to home. Went for Redear Sunfish. Caught some! They were small, but had the pretty red edge to their opercles.
Also caught Largemouth Bass, Bluegills, and Green Sunfish.
