Lance's X-May SBS

Lance Egan’s mash-up of a Skip Nymph/Red-Headed Stepchild; good tailwater stuff. The pt wingcase on anything smaller than a #16 is superfluous and a PITA.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #18
thread - Danville 6/0 red
bead - 3/32 gold
underbody - non-tox .015
rib - small wire red
tail/shellback - pheasant tail
abdomen - tying thread
wingcase - pheasant tail (see note)/medium mylar opal
thorax - Arizona Dubbing pheasant tail
legs - Krystal Flash red

Part 1

mash barb, slide on bead; jam in place with a few wraps of .015 non-tox

start thread, tie in rib, wrap to bend

measure (gap width) some pt fibers; tie in at 2/3 mark

hold tail fibers against the body and rib abdomen; helicopter end, cover with thread

tie in tinsel; fold pt butts back

dub thread/dub thorax

Part 2

pull pt forward; tie off/trim

tie in KF on either side

pull tinsel forward; tie off, whip finish, SHHAN

trim tinsel (left the tag end long as a nod to Hogan Brown) and KF

Scott
