A neat B.C. pattern; found this on the Kalamalka Fly Fishers site. Adjust the body thickness and use it for damsels, dragons and other stuff swimming in stillwaters.
hook - Mustad 9672 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 olive
underbody - non-tox .015
rib - small wire olive
tail/body/underwing - marabou olive
flash - Krystal Flash peacock
overwing - pheasant rump dyed olive
Part 1
cover front 1/2 of hook with non-tox; start thread, cover underbody, tie in rib and wrap to bend
measure (gap width past bend) a marabou feather; tie in
wrap butts forward; tie off/trim
counterwrap rib, helicopter end, cover with thread
tie in KF on either side; fold back/tie down

Nice find and nice tie! Thanks again Scott. I might tie a variation with the pheasant rump as a collar, like the Carey Special.

Nice!
Are you dyeing the duck feathers yourself, or buying them pre-dyed?

Allen,
Thanks. I’m guessing you meant the pheasant rump? It’s from a dyed skin I bought; easy enough to dye a rump patch, though.

Opps. That’s what I get for not reading everything. Thanks!
That’s a Kaufmann’s Damsel with Krystal Flash and a pheasant rump wing. I wonder if the slight variation improves the pattern that much. Nice tie, as always, regardless.
