After a little confusion last month it’s my turn to pick this month’s swap.
The theme this month is “Fly fishing fantasy”. Have you ever wanted to go someplace that you have never been and fish for an entirely new species? This is your chance to tie flies for that trip. For instance, if you live in the south but would like to fly fish for northern pike one day, you should tie a pike fly. If you have never fished steelhead, this may be your chance to tie some steelhead flies. Any fish/ fly combination will work, Just please try to make it for something that you have never fished for before or that you get to fish for on very rare occasion.
Also, please include the species that you would like to catch on the toe tag of the fly that you tie.

OK, I found a pattern. It is called Skip’s Dad and is a crawdad pattern. It would be good for northerns, bass, and catfish. These are fish I would not normally cast for. However, a big northern on my 6 wt would be a great deal of fun right up until it chewed through the tippet. Going up to Lake Superior and fishing for northern would be one of my “fantasy” or “on the list” trips.
O.K. I’ve decided to Tie a Salmon Fly called “The Spade”…and as usual it will be a varient.
I don’t know why I seem incapable of Tying to the reciepe as its wrote:roll:
After careful consideration, I have decided to change course a bit. It will be the same pattern, but on a different hook. I have never fished purposely for carp with a fly-rod. I usually bowfish for them. I am going to give some serious attention to fly fishing for carp this year, and I plan to do it exactly like I would for bonefish on the flats, even down to the same fly, except on a freshwater hook. So I will be tying a pink, freshwater Gotcha, designed specifically for carp.
Carp Gotcha
Hook: # 8 1X Nymph
Thread: Pink 3/0 Unithread
Eyes: Large Black Bead Chain
Tail: Silver flash
Body: Pink thread over wrapped with transclucent Shrimp Vina-Rib (pink Larvae Lace would probably work, also)
Wing: Pink Punisher fur with a few strands of pearl flash added, and barred with a black Prismacolor marker.

I added RGP759 from John’s 2011 swap of the month thread. That brings us to 11 tyers. Is anyone else interested in joining? We have space for one more person.
