January 2026 planned migration of the server

Sometime this month I am going to move my server.
I’m hitting over 80% of my disk space and the newer servers at the same hosting company have about the same amount of RAM but more computer cores and WAY more disk space.

I’ll post a warning before, and on the day that I’ll do that maintenance as it will take a few hours to cut over dns and stuff.

for those interested.. I use ionos as a hosting company for this.
I do recommend them. Would have been nice if they could have just added more disk space, but I’m on an old server now. For the last 5 years or so this has been a stable solution with the only real down times being self inflicted… Bad Ron. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

At the start of November my company decided to do a Reduction In Force.. AKA … thanks Ron, but we don’t need you anymore. At over 66, the prospect of a new job is not likely, or really desired I guess. So I’m just about reaclimated to retired life, which means I can get to projects work always got in the way of  That’s a good thing.

Anyway.. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for all you do, Ron.

SIGH..
this server is
Cpu:6 vCore
RAM:18 GB
Disk:160 GB NVMe SSD

i purchased a new server and started setup on the new server.
Cpu: 8 vCore
RAM: 16 GB
Disk: 480 GB NVMe SSD

but it doesn’t help when you remove critical stuff from the wrong open terminal

You are way better at it than I am.
