Jack's road trip report

Jack,
Nice articles on our road trip, although it is almost impossible to describe the joy of my seeing Leo again after 40 years, or what a wonderful host Warren was. The man clearly spent his entire weekend, even when we weren’t together, doing everything possible to make our trip perfect. I know his one goal was to see us catch “double digit” numbers of trout in a single outing, & that was accomplished by both Jack & I (thanks to Warrens’ help as stated in the article).
The trip boiled down to fun, memories, but mostly to friendships enhanced. I highly recommend “road trips” to further enrich the FAOL experience.
BTW, Warrens’ dog Maggie & I really struck a friendship…she was in my lap more than she was out of it. This was also an enhancement as I LOVE dogs!
Jack…Again, great job on the articles!

Jack and Mike,

I am so happy that the two of you had a good time because that was my goal. You two are the first members that I was finally going to “put a face to the name” and I wanted everything to just be perfect. Thanks to both of you for making the trip and I really enjoyed myself. Please do not be strangers and hurry back again. Jack, Tim at the fly shop said to tell you that the Veranda apartment complex in Tullahoma has a “Room Vacant” sign out!! Fellows, it was great and I appreciate all that the two of you done for me.

Mike;
I was very hard to cover it and yet keep it short.
Road Trips and putting faces to names are very rewarding, everyone should try it.
Warren;
I was checking on apartments in Tullahoma the week I got back!!

C’mon down, Jack. I’m afraid that you might miss winter sports, since we don’t do winter in a big way down here. But on the plus side we can have mayfly hatches in October and you can fish dries pretty much straight through the year, if you go to small midges (black or cream) in the winter. Trout season is opened year 'round and there is good warm water fishing most of the year too. It’s too easy to get used to red-bellies and smallmouth. The local TU chapter in Nashville (Cumberland) has a bunch of great folks in it. The Middle Tn. Fly Fishers (MTFF) is another group of great folks. From Tullahoma you are within an hour and a half of 3 tailwaters and a number of creeks that hold trout. We’ve got stripers (for D. Micus), bass, sunnies, crappie, catfish, gar, and a few muskies. The food ain’t bad and we’d love to have you down here. Then we could drag Mike down more often.

I’m sorry that I couldn’t get free to join y’all, but half of my department was on vacation… I’m glad that everybody had a good time. (BTW, one of the reasons that I wear neoprene waders is that I think that they are harder for snakes to bite thru…)

EdD,
NEXT trip buddy! You can join us then. How about the Michigan Fish-In? You can meet me in Ohio & we’ll finish the trip in my Jeep! The offer is an email away.

Sorry Mike. Maybe next year for the Fish-In. The Early Bird Gets the Vacation and I put in for mine last December. I’m really hurting over this because I haven’t wet a line or even tied a fly in a while. I have plans for tying Tuesday night and wetting Wednesday morning, weather permitting. I would love to meet y’all. I haven’t even been able to meet Warren yet, and he’s right down the road (an hour and a half).
