Still looking for a recipe for a a nymph called the Iron Sally. Posted similar question an the other section.
Is this the pattern you are looking for?
I found it at http://www.theflyshop.com/fly10.htm, but there is no recipe for it. Perhaps you could order one to use as a pattern and come up with your own recipe based on that. A Google search turned up few references to this fly, and frankly, it’s the first time 've seen it. Is it a newer pattern?
Good Luck
Joe
Welcome Joe, nice to see you here.
Looks like a modified “Copper John” to me.

Hi, All, it’s nice to be here. This is a great forum that I’ve been watching for awhile, and finally decided to jump in to see what I can learn from folks around the country, and maybe contribute a little as well.

I was thinking the same thing. The website offers this fly in sizes 14 & 16, which is what I tie my Copper John’s on as well.

Wow, that’s really weird. I posted a recipe for this nymph both here and in the general topic just this morning and now it’s gone.
Guess you’ll have to look at the end of your original post on the topic, orthoman.
Ok, trying again to post this here:
Here’s the recipe I cobbled together from the photo:
Hook: 3x long curve shank hook
Weight: 4 turns of no lead wire behind the bead
Tails: light olive goose biot (looks yellow/brown)
Body and rib: thread to form cone shape, covered and ribbed with brass wire
Back and wing case: turkey tail reinforced with clear nail polish
Thorax: dark olive sow/scud (photo may show hare’s mask)
Legs: dark brown Krystal Flash
Head: brass bead
Antennae: light olive goose biot
