I’ll quit making stupid mistakes. Re-wrapped a nice Sage LL with some beautiful new thread - Bullard twist red and gold - and it looked so purty. Put a couple coats of Color Preserver on and let it sit a while before starting the Epoxy. But evidently not long enough - it blotched up something awful, so it must not have been dry from the CP. That’s one more mistake I’ll never make again.
Why did you CP it in the first place?
I HATE when that happens!
The thread requires CP because it’s not nylon.
What kind of thread is it?
Brad
Bullard - from Golden Witch. I think it’s Poly. It has beautiful colors, but is a bit fragile, I broke it several times, and a couple of those were from just moving the guide around after it was wrapped.
After the first one or two times that it broke on me, if it is that fragile it would have either been on the way back to them or in the trash bucket. Sure it wasn’t fly tying thread instead of rod wrapping thread. Their site doesn’t say what composition it is either.
I wrapped a rod a couple years ago using Variegated thread. I added the CP but it still went blotchy. Someday I will fix it I guess. But I just finished a LL myself. I used a Burgundy color with no CP. Really like the finish.

Always a good idea to try a sample wrap with and without cp, just to see what you got.
Absolutely, but when I used that thread, I thought I had all areas covered with CP. But nope.

The burgundy with no cp is just perfect on that rod.
