I just got these Anodized Aluminum cones. I bought each color in Medium. I like this idea, cause I don’t like to weight my flies and allow the line to get me to whatever depth. They also come in small and LARGE

Fly Goddess,
Can you tell us where we can buy them? I am assuming you got them at the Orvis store you work(ed) at.
Well, on line but wasn’t going to say the “O” word
FG - Those look a little small for Madonna. Just sayin’…Ed ![]()
Why thank you dudley  , oh you ment the ones in the picture
Just a question, if you don’t like weighted flies, why use cones at all?
"Why thank you dudley  , "
She said coyly ![]()
Flash!!! I am sure there is a little weight to these, but I think more the flash. I have tried fishing Prince Nymphs, Pheasant Tails, etc with and without beads (gold, brass, chrome, whatever) and it seems I get more hits on the beads than with out.
There are some like chironomid’s that I want to sink fast, that cast I like tungsten, but for the most part I prefer regular beads.
Two FYIs: the cones are sold wholesale by Cascade Crest Tools in Central Point, Ore. They also have a version that has holes in it to cause the fly to burble…or bubble or whatever. They’re called Cam’s Bubble Cones. They appear to come in the same colors as the anodized aluminum cones.
Not sure if they’re the same ones, FG, but they might well be.

WOW! you are my Hero! they sell the colored Mallard and Guinea also! Those cones are way cool also. Thank you so much, I will be placing a big order from them here real soon.
Thanks again…sweeeeettttttt
You may have a problem placing an order as they aren’t a retail shop, but if you have the connections, you should be able to get what you need. They do indeed have a lot of things that we never see in our local shops. Some of their new synthetics are remarkable, and as you noted, they have a bunch of feathers in colors we don’t see…for instance, dyed badger saddle…

FG-- Just got off the phone with the owner of Cascade Crest Tools as I’m writing about the company’s artificial hackle in a product column I write.
He does sell retail off his website, so you’re good to go for colored guinea, Madonna cones or whatever you wish.
Keith
Thanks Keith, you ROCK!
