I haven't Gotten out much...

Well I have been SO busy with work, and everything else…
So how have you been dooing in the warmwater world…

I need to hear about fishing…anything but work…

Warm water has been good to me this year. I have not been out often, but a few weekends ago I went out twice with my nephew. Caught LMB, Crappies and Blue Gills. I was only 3 hours south of you. Last week I was up on Caspian Lake in Greensboro, VT. Went out one AM to Flag Pond, just east of Greensboro and caught a mess of Blue Gills and some Pickerel. Nicest moment there was fishing a small popper and had two pickerel come at it at the same time. One lost the race and the other got the hook. It was fun.

It was a great spring with loads of fish and a new personal best for me when I caught a 14 inch Red Ear Sunfish on my two wt. The summer on the other hand has been VERY hot and slow. I went out last evening and only caught one bass. The fish have gone deep here in Georgia and I can’t wait until October when they start smashing the BG up against the shoreline again.

Jim Smith

Hey VTB,

Early spring Jim Smith spent a few days with me chasing the illusive
red eared sunfish. It was a real hoot even though the fish were playing
hide and go seek.G When Jim left, I went in for knee surgury. I got
out this past Thursday for the first time in two months and caught a
number of double digit red ears.G I also lost one that broke a fresh
4# tippet and left me wanting more. Alas, for two days after the trip,
walking was a real chore. Got an appointment with my surgean later
this morning to find out when I can resume fishing with a vengence.G
Warm regards, Jim

P.S. Jim, tickled you got a 14 incher buddy. Sorry it wasn’t on your
spring visit. Next year for sure, the 16 incher.G

Work, weather, & Grandchildren have all cut into my fishing time, but the work schedule will ease up in a week, so hope to get out more. When I have fished, it has generally been good. Jack Hise & I each had our 1st “double digit” trout days with WarrenP on the Duck River in Tullahoma, TN & in warmwater, taken a good number of 9" to 10" gills from my local ponds, plus a bunch of bass in the 2 lb range. I will get out a lot more after our Michigan Fish-In.
Jim…Hatch AND Smith…You both have me drooling about our “road trip” for next year!
Mike
