I didn't have any _______ so I used ___________

Having been convinced, primarily by my neighbor Mr. Jim Smith, that I need to try some of the minnow body streamer type of flies and further inspired by a tutorial from the Flyfishing Ohio website I decided to give it a try. But I didn’t have any of the polar fleece or fish hair so I used the synthetic “cotton” in the Benicar medication for high blood pressure, the eyes were cut from the side of another prescription bottle with a dot of black finger nail polish added. This was made last night, it may fall apart with the first intro to water. Color by permanent marker, I was never good at coloring, the lines got in the way.

Now you know what I used instead of, what do you subsitute, that works, when you don’t have what the “classic” recipe calls for.

Very nice Sir

Necessity is the mother of invention! It is surprising how easily ___________ can be used in place of ___________ !!!

Uncle Jesse,

From the looks of those two flies, I feel very certain that:

  1. They will catch plenty of bass
  2. They will not fall apart from catching all those bass.

Very nice looking pattern and well tied. Thanks for sharing and please keep us posted on your success.

Jim Smith

Thanks Jim, I was hoping for some big ole bream, of course a bass is just an added bonus. My favorite lake over in Alpharetta get difficult this time of year and 50 deg. water is very refreshing so I have reverted to fishing the Hooch for trout for a while. Come on over to Gwinnett Country and we will give it a shot, I have an extra doughnut tube.

amazing job - we ought to put you to work on a Fly of the Week, I like how you think.
Hugs,

hey after the other eve i may soon have a substiute for Dan baily body fur then!.. he really doesn’t always reveil his plans !..lol…ok I apoligize for that one…but the BP was high and I’m a tad edgey bout this whole deal… the body fur rolls on real nice over an epoxy coated shank n i garentee it’ll not come apart on ya… and with a tail of that krinkly mono stuff…can’t recall the name of it… on a mustad 3407 or 34007 it’ll be bullet proof for years to come…only prob is finding a epoxy that won’t yellow over time…even those that claim they Never Do… DO!

Adapt, Improvise, and Overcome…Ooough Rah.
