Eric, or someone…could you please tell us how Deanna is getting along? Perhaps a little too early to ask. But you know a lot of us are concerned about her welfare.
How about an update on the situation?
please…?
I hope she is doing well. She has a lot to deal with and a bum shoulder to boot. I wish you well Deanna.
Gemrod,
Thanks for asking. I was going to ask but felt a little awkward about doing so. If anyone has some information to share as to how Deanna is doing it would be most appreciated.
Deanna,
You are in my thoughts and prayers constantly.
I talked with her at length last night. She is doing as well as can be expected at this time. For those of us that knew her we know what a strong person she is. She assured me that this site will continue and that she has to pick up on some of the things that Jim did.
One of the things we talked about was a memorial for Jim. I had polled some of the members about replacing the bench on the small island connected to Gate’s lodge by a foot bridge. She was very receptive to the idea as it was a favorite place for them to sit and watch the river.
Yes we both wept a bit as we recalled the good times we had shared.
Thank you Jack, I really do appreciate you letting us know, where as I’m sure this is a very difficult time for LF, it always seemed to me that she is a very special person with understanding and insight, a very kind giving person. So for her to say that she will continue here with FAOL, shouldn’t surprise me, it does give me a sense of selfish relief to know she will still be here with us running the show, with the help of others… There’s alot of good that happens because of this sight…
Glad that you had the chance to talk to Deanna and to give us a report. Thanks. Keep us posted if you have further contact with her. Lots of us standing by to help, if we can.
Jack, thank you for the update and please let us know what we can do to help on the bench. I will do all I possible can to make this happen and I am sure most everyone here wil also.
I too talked to Deanna. She is doing well and just as shocked as the rest of us over the recent events. We spoke of the bench, she was very enthusiastic to the idea. I have also contacted Rusty Gates and spoke to his wife, I have yet to talk to Rusty but it seems as if it should be no problem. Many of you may remember the bench we all helped to erect for Al Campbell. Our thoughts of this bench are similar, with Deanna having the final approval as to it’s layout and content. Here’s what Al’s looks like: http://rapidcityjournal.com/blogs/outdoors/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/alcampbelltio.JPG
A memorial bench is a wonderful way to remember the man who gave so much of himself for the sport of fly fishing. When we did this for Al Campbell it helped bring closure to his passing.
I am all for the bench. A few thoughts. I know…my opinion wasn’t asked for. But…
After looking at Al’s bench…it is beautiful. Wondering if JC’s should look exactly the same. Somewhow that would seem appropro or poignant. I know Al’s bench is a tribute to HIM the man and deservedly so. But I only knew him via this wonderful website FAOL. I somewhow wish Al’s bench had a reference to FAOL…such as “FAOL CHAMPION” or something. Just wonder how many FAOL’ers who happened upon either bench would notice the words FAOL…and say hey…I am a member of that fraternity! Sort of a lasting tribute is the thought. Many past or future FAOL’ers may not know of the benches but upon some vacation and seeing them could really light them up. Just a thought.
I am sure Deanna has some thoughts as well and I should keep my big mouth shut.
