How Do You Steam Chennile?

Hi All,

You folks who steam chenille, how do you steam it. Do you put a pan on the stove till it boils, and then hold it in the steam for a few seconds, stretch it tight in the steamy area above the pan, or what?

Any advise will be appreciated.

I’ve used a tea kettle and passed the chenille over the spout and through the steam…you will see it change form as you do it…[for all you doubters]…no need to boil…anything that is a steamer can be used …my wife has a little steamer used for clothing… that I have also used.

I have a small Norelco travel steamer I use to get the kinks out. I just pass the chenille over the and give it a few snaps and then run my fingers down it a few times.

I just insult it’s skein and question it’s heritage.

That get’s it all steamed up ;).

(Or, you could just take it off the card and hang it in loose loops from a piece of doweling, then pass over the spout of a steaming kettle…).

OK, so what does steaming do for/to chenile? I’ve never heard of this before.

Fluffs it up and takes out any kinks from being wound on the card.
