I’ve had fly hooks on back order since July 27. I don’t think it’s fair that I’m being held hostage. This happened to me the last 2 times I’ve ordered and I’m sick of it. I’ve been very patient and understanding. If you don’t have it and don’t know when you can get it, just say, “I don’t have it!” I’d rather them be honest up front.
Bruce,
I’d get in touch with my credit card company and have them void the transaction. Never had any problem with H & H but that’s way too long for them to hold an order.
Regards,
Scott
What have they said when you contacted them about this? I’ve never had any problems with them and have found them very responsive to questions.
Who did you talk to? They have been long-time very dependable Sponsors. Call them. Please let me know who you talk to.
I too placed an order for hooks back in the Spring but received no reply when I inquired about it. This is unlike HH. I didn’t pursue it because my credit card was not charged and I only placed the order because the hooks were on sale and had no immediate need for it.
Hi. I didn’t contact anyone over the phone because I’m tired of that. I did inquiry through emails. I guess after reading my posts here, they decided to ship the rest of my order. I hope I’m wrong about Hook & Hackle. I’m trying real hard to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I don’t know.
I have used them a number of times with no issues what so ever and very prompt shipping. They are most likely a small size company filling hundreds of internet orders and in the best of circumstances may have glitches. I however, don’t understand about the lack of communications on their part. I would not disregard them all together though, over this incident.
I have used them several times… An I an’t the easiest to make happy lol can kinda be picky or aggravating … I haven’t had any problems with them… they have been very understanding and prompt … Lastchance up there where you live, maybe the tin can string has a break in it … LOL
H&H is no small company. They have been around 35 years now, but not all under the same ownership. They were bought out a few years back and moved from up-state New York to Pennsylvania. The new owner has always been very responsive to me when I have called him about some of my orders. Rather than send emails, I would encourage you to pick up your phone and give him a call. If “Ron” doesn’t answer, just ask for him. He is the new owner.
It’s unusual for a company to charge your card previous to shipment unless it’s a special order item or something like that; if it’s a back-order situation of typical stock items but they have already charged your card I would definitely contact the card holder and get them involved.
Ron is a stand up guy and honest as the day is long. I consider him a friend. When this thread was posted, I sent him an e mail because I toiught he would be interested in the negative feedfack he was getting. Below is his response to me(he has given me permission to post this).
I’ve contacted the customer afew days ago and let him know that they were sent on July 27th. When toldhe hadn’t received them, we immediately sent another package on 9/4, which isthe day he told us. It would be nice if he acknowledged that, but folks are always quick to criticize.
Again, thanks for yoursupport.
Ron
It seems to me that we were not told the whole story in the first post.

Hook and hackle is not a big company, when you compare it to walmart, cabellas bass pro shops etc. They are at the mercy of their suppliers they don’t manufacture what they sell, they buy it from a supplier. Unfortunately if you happen to order and your supplier is out it can take some time for them to fill your order. With something as specialised as fly hooks they might have to wait until the manufacturer makes another run of that type of hook which could take months. This happens to all retail establishments at some point. With a brick and mortar store you walk in they don’t have it they apologize and say its on order and you walk out and buy it somewhere else or wait for it to come in. With a online store they back order it and you wait or cancel the order and buy it somewhere else its up to you. Often the store has no idea when the item will be back in stock beceause they order it from a supplier who orders it from the manufacturer. Hook and hackle is not the best at communicating but they are good at getting the product out when they have it.
I didn’t want this to turn into a H & H bashing. I received my hooks and all is well.
