Hook Comparison ?

:?:

I see a callout for using a Tiemco 200BL on the Reverse Spider pattern. This is driving me nuts because I can not find a reference to the 200BL in the Tiemco hook Charts. I can find TMC200R. Is the TMC200R the same as the 200BL? Or does the BL designator mean something different?

Also is a Diiachi 1270 the same style hook as a TMC 200BL? There is a similar Mustad Signature C53S. This just as good for tying Reverse Spiders?

Who has got the skinny on this please?

Thanks,
Rich

Tiemco has a barbless version of the 200R called the 200RBL. Perhaps this is the root of your frustration.

Other manufacturers have their versions of the TMC 200R, including the Daiichi 1270, Dai-Riki 270, and the Mustad Signature model you mentioned.

Indeed! Thanks Bugsy. The BL model hooks seem to be barbless. I am all set then.

Killroys website has general hook comparison chart, as well as five refined hook charts, which you can printout. This will help you find a replacement hook from the one suggested in a pattern, when you cannot find that brand in your area, or you might already have a hook by a different company.

Thanks Good Chart. I have a hook book too and the 200 RBL does not appear on any charts that I have found. I have come to the conclusion that the Fly Recipe was calling-out the hook incorrectly. The 200BL is what could be used on the Reverse Spider.
