Hey Jim (and other Kayakers or Canoers)

My wife found this yesterday, and thought I would be interested. I said she was more than welcome to get it for me, and after the laughter died down, I got the link from her and thought I’d share it here!

Anyone tried one? I’ll bet it would be kinda neat on the clear lakes out there!!

Don

You might want to post this on the “Paddling” BB. That’s where you will probably find Jim and the rest of the people who use kayaks and canoes. It really looks interesting and I know there will be responses to it on the “Paddling” board. It is the very last one on the BB.

You might tell your wife that I will take one to!

Hey Don,

Thats a different sort of boat for sure. I guess it’d be a good way to
study gators.G Warm regards, Jim

 Neat boat. No way I could own it. I’d be so fixated looking throught the hull that I would probably ram some other poor soul!

I’ll be paddling one of those over the reefs off Costa Maya next month. 8) Can’t wait.

Don:

I have never seen one and I have to admit it is very neat. Two issues. First, everytime a 3 foot carp swims under it I would jump - glad I don’t live in gator country. Second, be careful of the polycarbonate. It is bullet proof, but scratches fairly easily. It would be a shame to scratch up the bottom with sandy shoes.

What a novel idea.

David

djo,

Maybe one could find waterproof, fuzzy slippers for that one.

I’ve seen a few ads for the clear bottom kayaks before and they’d be pretty nice over a reef or nice beach with rays or sand sharks.

.

Theres just something about the thought of being in one of those that just would feel to creepy to me…Would still be a kewl experience though :!:

Kind of like the first time someone rides in a bubble chopper it is way too cool. Man everytime a fish dove under the boat one could see where it was heading. A good way to study the fish behavior also.

Hey, when did we get a paddling section!?!?!?!? Man, I gotta be more observant sometimes. Of course it IS hidden down there at the bottom. . .

I didn’t think about the scratching, but I guess after looking at the bottom of any canoe or kayak that has been used should have clued me in. It would be fun while it lasted though. . . .

Don

I dunno…it looks sort of flimsey. Also, after a bit of use, the bottom will be too scratched up to see anything through it. Neat idea though. A few companies actually make regular see-through kayaks and canoes.

Semper Fi!
