hey Fishigan

Can you start another fun thread???

I agree;
This time we can try to keep it about fly fishing. And pirates. And And and and

Here is a question. What did you learn from or about fishing this season.

One thing I learned is to sleep with an eye open and a knife nearby when sharing a room with a pirate like DMicus

jed

but jed, i still managed to steal your credit cards…

I learned how much I missed it while I was sick. I learned just how much this board means to one of us when we are sick.
How many of these people stopped what they were doing just to let me know I was cared about.
I also learned that up north they catch frozen fish. And that some people in the cold north will do anything to fish. Can you imagine cutting holes in ice to fish? <grin>

Harold

Thats why my cards are all maxed out. You…you… you PIRATE you!!

I learned how to nymph successfully. After 35 yearts of fishing, and having minimal successs nymphing I decided last year to learn how to fish nymphs. I did not do it last year, but this year, starting at the fish-in in Deerfield I got the hang of it. I learned the Lisenring (high sticking) technique, then got proficient with other methods as well. My catching has increased so that it is a rare day I go out and get skunked.

I have also met face-to-face several people from this board and found with the exception of DMicus all of them are fun to fish with.

Not a bad year, all-in-all

jed

Yea, but you found I was fun to drink with!

I learned to never leave the pfd in the kayak when fishing the shore.

Where do you think all the ice comes from to keep your drinks cold? It just so happpens that once the ice is out you can pull a fish through the hole. Be careful though your pegleg might go through a thin spot, not much surface area to spread the weight out.

Who has time for stress when there are fish to catch.
Nick

I learned that a midge dropper off of a floating fly will catch a ton of gills.

I learned to swim while learning to watch for holes whilst wading!
AAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHn’t you proud of me?
cheers
Adam

I learned that Josko is maybe the best fisherman I’ve ever met.

I also learned there is salt water fishing in Ohio. (Ha, that never gets old, does it tuber?)

I learned not to bet against pats man. (By the way if you see this they are on the way. I just finished up another 75 hour work week.)
I learned that there’s no good in an evil hearted woman, and I ain’t cut out to be no Jessy James.
I learned that some people hate for no reason, other than to hate.
I learned that life is short, so live it while you can.

I learned how to make a pirate noise

AAAAAAAA

RRRRRRRR

GGGGHHHH

Hey, I think I’m getting the hang of this.

swen:
After catching a snook on the first try you do not worry about making the correct noise. We may all start taking lessons from you. Congrats on the snook. They are fun to catch.

Harold

I learned (from another post) that Micus wears a thong!
I also learned that Ohio is NOT a good place to shop for a gaff (for landing all those saltwater bluegills!).
Mike

fishigan, i heard a nasty rumor that you bet ON the dolphins AGAINST the patriots. I didn’t believe it…no one that was clever enough to conceive the elitist-schmeetist thread could have made such a sucker bet…

but it is good to see you back.

and, Mike, I’m sure glad you qualified your statement with “from another post”!!!

I learned that I had no call to use my baitcaster (with 9/0 trebled hooked Daredevil) this year, as the Jet Skier’s run away when I hoisted my pirate flag

…Arggghhhhhh!

Pirate Parnelli

I was betting based on 2 things. 1) heart.
2) statistically they would win. The Dolphins had never lost their first 4 games.
But…the one good thing comming out of this is the coach is gone. They only thing I couldn’t figure is why they tried to get him to stay for the rest of the year? Then again it could be they really didn’t, but just wanted it to look like that.

Micropteris----“ice to keep my drinks cold” had fish in it before it was frozen??? Ugh, I just can imagine what those silly fish were doing in my “ice for my drink”!! Fornicating, defacating, postulating, oh my gosh, no wonder I get a headache after I use that defiled ice to chill my Ketel One Vodka. Tsk, tsk.

Snow on the roof with fire in the hearth

I’m looking forward to ice fishing this year.
Finally broke down and got a sled shanty.
Figured if the boy is going with me I gotta keep him warm. He’s a fine ice fisher.
Also get to try out some new ice fly patterns I have been working on.
