Help on fly fishing near Knoxville Tn.

I am going to be in Knoxville Tn.visiting my wife’s family and would like to take a day so we both can fish.
Any help with where and what flies would be greatly appreciated. I hope to be there this weekend or next and know nothing of the seasons or places to fish.

Check the Creel. Best flyshop, IMHO, in the area.

If you want a guide, ask for Mike Bone. He’s as good as they come.

“The memory of a fisherman is more like fiction than journalism, that is, it doesn’t ignore the facts, but it is not entirely bound by them, either.”

It’s a huge shame that you couldn’t have been at the TU meeting in Nashville this Monday night. The speaker was great. The South Holston and Watauga rivers are now on everybody’s mind.

There are a lot of real nice places with good fishing in the area. Another real good shop in the area is Little River Outfitters. Wth them and the Creel you will be fixed up nice. On my site I have them both listed and also some of the flies used in the area. John

I wish you all everlasting flies and tight lines.

Here’s an earlier thread on the topic:

I work only so that I can afford to fish

I used to live in Knoxville, Tn. Go to Lake Douglas or Lake Norris and use Clouser patterns. For panfish and crappie, go to Ft. Louden resevoir or Tellico Lake and use Clousers and Black/Grey Cricket/Hopper patterns.
Good Luck.
