Yesterday, I had decided that since there was very little wind that I would take my 5wt and try to catch a few gills or whatever else might bite. While there though, I noticed a large amount of tash in the area where I was fishing at. Beer cans, biscuit cans, ans worst of all, there were HYPODERMIC NEEDLES! Really got under my skin! I did pick up a lot of the cans and stuff like that but I wasn’t about to touch the needles as there is not elling who had used them and it just wasn’t worth it to take a chance on getting pulled over with a bunch of needles in my truck. This is not the first time I have seen this kind of thing there. 2 weeks ago, a sherriffs deputy and I filled 2 small Gatorade bottles full of needles and I am sure that what I saw yesterday was some that we didn’t find when he and I were down there a couple of weeks ago. I just had to vent. I appreciate you guys letting me get this off my chest.
your comments - and also that you helped pick it up - BUT did you notify that sheriff this time too? Maybe someone needs a hidden camera there?
It is disgusting and I agree about not touching the needles. A sure bet you have I.V. drug users there. Ladyfisher’s suggestion about notifying the police again and a hidden camera would be a good thing to do. If the local law enforcement is reluctant to pursue it consider contacting the Feds (D.E.A.).
I salute you for your efforts and concern!
Enforcment does know of the items, location and other details that I am not privy to(or so they say they know anyway), but have been unsuccessful in attempts to catch the individuals responsible. As far as a camera goes, we are a small town and most people dont even know we are here let alone care. Witha town of only 2500 people, we dont warrant a lot of money for law enforecement and things of that nature, and besides most of the cops we have have let the “power” of wearing a badge and a gun go to their heads. Where’s Buford Pusser when you need him?
Quad thanks for cleaning up someone else’s mess.
