I received a nice email from Harold regarding the passing of Bob “Oldman” Dial. Bob treated for the same type cancer Harold does, and, of course, Harold was (as always) there for the “other guy”. Harold recently had a very serious health issue, but he is now getting better, although the process is slow & he is pretty weak. He asked that I reassure everyone here that he is recovering & to quote Harold…“Please let everyone know I AM NOT GOING TO DIE.”…let’s all just keep him in our prayers & Harold, we can’t wait until you’re back posting regularly!
IMHO, Harold epitomizes everything that is good about FAOL & flyfishing & we can’t get him back “posting” soon enough!
Mike
While we are on the subject of ppl who have not been posting of late,Anyone know where Chris Chin has been hanging out…I was just wondering to myself the other eve…Why he’s not been posting of late…We do notice when one of the fam hasn’t been showing their mug around here…ok so he one of few I can place a face with the name…It is rather nice Too!!..
I talked with Sue (Harold’s wife) on Friday, Harold had a reaction to one of the medicines, that was part of his Chemo Treatment. Right now he is resting and regaining his strength, after the ordeal.
Thanx for the update guys I had asked about HH in the chat room the other nite. Seems like you get real attached to the folks here without ever meeting them. I thought about HH over the T-days (others as well) and he is in my prayers. I want HH well,I want HH back on here posting.
Had a wonderful note from Chris Chin. All is well with his family, but work is at the end of year high. He’s promised it will settle down shortly and he’ll be home soon.
Thanks Ladies for the news of Mr. Chin…Just missed seeing the mans posts…Hes quite a likeable sort is’nt he!..lol…Glad to here that he and his fam are doing good…and I hope he will return promptly…With more tales of his and his fam’s river outtings.
Truly sorry to hear about Bob Dial.
Harold, we miss you. You are a fighter with an excellent outlook on life and I am sure you will bounce back strong.
If it wasn’t such a downer I’d start a post to see just how many of us have been fighting the big C, either currently or in the past.
Just this past year I can now think of 4 FAOLers we have lost to it and another 4 who have in the past or are currently fighting it. Damn stuff! Can’t say enough for the need for check-ups and good health habits.

I spent a couple hours this morning watching Eponymous drown flies and dodge sharks and other pesky critters particular to the Pirate shores of W. Central Florida. Found him to be a polite and capable fishing companion, one whom I’d like to spend more time getting to know.
Harold Hattaway and his wife, Sue, joined us for lunch and we spent another couple hours comparing tackle, backgronds, and confirming the pleasant fact that FAOL meetings generally lead to new-found friends.
I conveyed the good wishes and good thoughts that all of you have asked be conveyed to Harold. Be assured that he is doing better. He’s being treated with some really high-powered meds and they can and do sap energy like a lightning rod grounds a lightning bolt. Harold is a strong-willed and memorable friend, who is grateful for everyone’s support and said so several times today.
Patrick, have a successful convention and a safe trip home.
