Looking for some guide suggestions for late June fly fishing around Key Largo (staying at the Hilton). Would be my first time out of a flats boat, would like to target a variety of species - snook, reds, etc. All suggestions welcome, I’ll continue researching as well.
Three very expensive guided trips in the Keys, two with only jacks to show and the other skunked, taught me a lesson. Insist that your guide not focus on showing you how cool tarpon or bonefish look on the flats, but on catching them. Obviously, guides can’t guarantee fish, but every guide I’ve had down there thought I should appreciate the vista and the nature in action. No. i wanted to catch a slam. i can tie and cast and grew up in south Florida and don’t give a darn about fish watching. Make sure your guide knows you don’t either.
