thread - UTC 140 chartreuse, black
tail - deer hair red
butt - Uni-Stretch chartreuse
body - deer hair black
hackle - hen black
wing - calftail white
lip - calftail butts
Part 1
mash barb, start thread; clean, stack, measure (gap width) a clump of deer hair, tie in (don’t spin), trim butts
tie in Uni-Stretch (leave tag end long), wrap to end of tail butts, tie off/trim
pull tag end forward, tie off/trim
Part 2
cover tail with tape; start black thread, clean clump of deer, trim tips, 2 soft loops and spin
pack it tight, repeat as needed to fill the shank up to the double wire; tie off/trim thread
trim top and bottom, then the sides, tapering front to back
in the round
tie in (folded) hackle by the tip; wrap, tie off/trim
Part 3
clean, stack, measure (tips to bend) a clump of calftail; tie in, whip, SHHAN
brush butts with vinyl cement, squeeze flat (takes a little longer with calftail)
trim lip
