Got a problem with quiche?

(crustless) for dinner tonight (spinach, cheddar, bacon & onion)

and German chocolate cake (from scratch, no stinking mix or canned frosting) for the boy; he turns 21 (didn’t let the icing cool enough and it dripped a bit but it still tastes good

Bon appetit,
Scott

WHY??? Just after I get done eating??? Now I am druling and am full at the same time!!

Scott,

I have a problem with quiche…there never seems to be enough of it.

If I were at your house when that meal was being served I would only have one thing to say about that German Chocolate Cake…

What is everyone else having for desert?

The only problem I have with quiche is why is it always so darn thin? Heck, make it thick then cut a normal sized piece.

As for dessert, looks just fine to me, of course we could add a big scoop of vanilla ice cream  yummy

Took the cake down to Richmond for birthday celebration with our son and invited some of his college buddies over. It was like watching a swarm of grasshoppers strip a cornfield on Ken Burns’ Dustbowl series; I was reminded of the comment my neighbor once made when we stopped for dinner after fishing all day - “I just shovel it in and chew with my colon”.

Scott

Getting a taste via cyberspace makes it a lo-cal and non fat version but a little on the dry side.

Cannot say for sure I have ever had a quiche, looks a lot like an omlet to me. But it just seems wrong to put in all that good tasting stuff, eggs, bacon, cheese, onion and then try to undo that with some spinach. Like t rying to camoflague yourself by holding up a blade of grass. It looked delicious, especially the cake.

You are absolutely correct about college boys and food, there is not safe in their presence that can be digested, especially if it taste good. When I was in Jr. college (second half of the last century) the Walgreens (remember when they had cafes in their stores) in Whitehaven, TN had all the shrimp you could eat for $1 on Wednesday. They ran out with me and some friends one night.

Memphis used to be an outstanding town for shrimp. Back before air-mail foods, some of the bargemen on the Mississippi would bring up tubs of shrimp on ice and sell them in Memphis. At least that’s what I was told growing up. Memphis was always as much a shrimp city as a BBQ city to me when I was a visiting kid.

My first hitchiking trip was my freshman year in juco. My roomie who was a high mileage veteran dropped me at the on ramp of I-55 with a sign on my bag with the name of the little town outside New Orleans I was headed. A guy who hauled shrimp and fresh seafood from the New Orleans seafood market to Memphis picked me up and dropped me off in Covington, La, just across the lake from my dad’s truck yard in New Orleans. I made it to the yard with one more ride and missed my dad by a few minutes. I was ruined and rarely paid to travel via bus again (bus and train were the only affordable public offering then and there).

I am reminded of watching my son and his friends eat at a BQ one time when they were about 18. My son could have polished off the cake by himself. It is amazing to watch teens eat. Who’d of thought one person could eat so much, let alone 5 or more kids. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I love quiche but, as stated, there just never seems to be enough. My wife makes the same kind you did but also adds Jalopeno peppers for me along with some chedder, bacon and Jalopeno cornbread. YUM YUM!!!
