Gosling Muddler

This one will get their attention, or send them swimming. Loved the color of the deer hair (we don’t get picric on this side of the pond but it does bear a resemblance; wish I remembered where I bought this patch); hated the texture. Ended up having to use a spun loop.

hook - Mustad 3906 #6
thread - Danville 6/0 light olive
tail - pheasant tail dyed hot yellow (1TBS Rit Lemon Yellow, 1/2 cup water)
rib - oval tinsel gold
body - dubbing hot yellow
hackle - orange over hot yellow
overhackle - mallard dyed hot yellow
head/collar - deer dyed yellow

Scott

First fly on the leader yesterday morning; used it here

And brought this up

After an hour and a few more fish, retired it to the drying rack (my hat)

Hey Scott, very cool tie. Do you have an SBS for that pattern? I’d like to try it.
Bruce

Bruce,

I do not, sorry. When I get back from my fishing trip in a couple weeks, I’ll see if I have all the materials in my travel kit.

Regards,
Scott

ps - Davie McPhail and Ryan Houston have some nice muddler variations on YouTube that are worth checking out

nice fly, love those colors! Would like to make that a bit bigger for pike.
