Giraffe Tieing Lamps?

A Giraffe tieing lamp was recommended to me recently by another tier. Before I commit any $$$$ to a purchase, would like to hear any comments or experiences you could share regarding the Giraffe? Thanks.

I bought the Giraffe system about 15 years ago when my old cheap lamp died. It is one of the best tying investments I have made. The lamp does not get hot and it is easy to adjust. The magnifer is a real aid for the smaller flies and will rotate on the base so it can easily be swung out of the way and then back if necessary without having to readjust the bent arm.
My only complaints are that it is bulky and therefore awkard to transport to tying shows. Also the plastic lens will scratch if you are careless with your scissors.
I have the Giraffe system without the base so the magnifer and the lamp mount directly to my tying station. Then I have the "C"clamp options for use elsewhere. I also opted for the full spectrum bulb, which while nice is probably not necessary.
I highly recommend the Giraffe system despite the price. You will never be sorry.

I have a giraffe tying lamp and it puts out plenty of light but it also will heat your entire tying room in the winter. In summer you better turn on the air-conditioner. The Giraffe lamp I own gets this hot. If I were you I would definately ask Jim Cramer what model he has before spending your money. Jim

I have the Giraffe black goose neck lamp, the magnifier and the heavy base plate combo centered on my bench. It rocks! I use one of those daylight bulbs in it (looks like soft serve ice cream). It gives me true colors and it does not run that hot. That whole set-up is just great. I augment the Giraffe with several more area lights nearby. I run fans if needed, as I don’t have AC. I do have SB though (Sea Breeze)

… and don’t forget a profile plate. Good lights and a plate will go a long way to reducing eye strain and also enhancing the tying experience IMO.
