I finally gave in to the pressure from this site and I decided to build a rod on a Tiger Eye blank. It took 3 weeks but I finally got the blank and some parts from Sevier. That guy is helpful once you get a hold of him. Now the problem, I ordered some hardware and thread from Hook and Hackle, the garnet thread is on backorder, Mudhole, JStockard, Jans Netcraft all say garnet is on backorder, Cabelas only has the 950 yard spools in stock- What the “insert profanity here” am I gonna do with 950 yards??
Anybody got any other ideas before I order 900 more yards than I need.
I wanted to use Garnet because it seems to fade into the blank, I don’t want any part of this rod to “stand out” just a nice simple build.

I have a spool of Garnet thread you can have. The only problem is the label is missing and “I think” it is the Garnet I used to repair a couple of wraps on a bamboo rod. Pm your mailing adress and I’ll send it.
Once again the kindness and generosity of the members of this site shine through. Thank you all for the offers and info. I received a Cabelas Gift card for fathers day and now their website shows they have the Garnet in stock. So combine that with the need for some other things and I may be ordering from Cabelas after all.
