Ft. lauderdale help

I’ll be in Ft. Lauderdale on a whrilwind business trip this sunday, monday, and maybe tuesday…any advice on where to fish??? Thanks!!!

Sorry Dave, too far south. Wish you had more time, I’d take you to our flats.

dude, the very first thing i did was a mapquest search to see where deltona was in relation to ft. lauderdale–over 200 miles. but i figured my buddy gary would gladly get up and drive to f.l. to pick me up!

I’ll be in Boynton Beach, about 35 minutes North of you from Thursday to Monday. Maybe we can meet and fish the beach 1/2 way in between. All I know to do is go to the beach and cast out towards the east. There is the intercoastal, but I know nothing about where.

Maybe some kindly soul will give us directions.

Maybe Monday morning for a few quick hours…

jed, might work out…i’m flying down to testify in a court case, which might be monday morning, but we’ll see.

I thought they dropped all those charges against you when you went into the witness protection program.

jed

well, jed, it was on the condition i testify against you…sorry man…

John Lloyd state park has some decent surfcasting from the beach early on. You’ll find jacks and pompano right in the wash at dawn.
You can also drive all the way up to the Port Everglades inlet; it’s worth a try, although you’ll be next to a whole line of plug and bait casters.
If you can score a skiff, and it’s chilly, you’ll find tarpon stacked up at the power plant outlet. Check out satellite pictures or maps to see where the outlet is - just off the cruise ship docks. You can rent whalers at the 16th street marina, but they are pricy.

If casting flies to the mangroves is more of your thing, Anne Kolb nature park, http://sofia.usgs.gov/virtual_tour/wlak/index.html[/url:8b6aa] just south of John Lloyd state park, rents canoes, and you can have a blast catching small snook and such. Let me know if you need more detail.

Dave,
If you’re going to be that far south you might think about heading a little further south and hunt for some peacock bass.

“PC” is for Plant City not Politically Correct. if you wanna catch something ya gotta get a hook in the water

Dave; I posted this on the main board and wanted to make sure you saw it.

You are going to be in peacock bass area… I have a link that will give you some great info. Too bad you are on that side of the state. http://floridafisheries.com/docum/northnewr.html[/url:099b7]

catch one or two for me. Have a great trip and take some pictures of the peacocks… By the way if you do not know the peacocks; will be in small canals. A lot of casting from the bank so take the right gear.

Mike Franz could help you a bit more than I can I hope he sees your post.

Good luck

Harold

Ahh Dave, that really hurts. I bet if we meet in Fla its gonna be a set up and I’m goin’ down. Did you tell them about- oops forget it never mind.

Is it okay to post on the is board for new alias suggestions? Looks like I’ll need one.

jed

Thanks, Harold & Josko! It looks like the govt. is flying me down on tuesday morning and flying me out on wednesday evening. i’ll be at the sheraton in dania, fl, and i notice on a map that there is a canal called the ‘tarpon waterway’ right behind the hotel. since i’m not gonna have much time to travel to fish, i’m hoping that is an accurate name and not just a tourist thing. anyway, jed, meet me at the hotel. and if yo’re carrying an open umbrella it will make it easier for the fbi, uh, me to recognize you…

I’m flying North on Monday. Looks like we have to wait to fish together again when Striper season starts up, or maybe Shark season

I don’t worry about the FBI finding me, they are already following me around up here.

Jed, You need to get on the “no spy” list.
Just pick up the phone and tell them, no need to dial.

Dudley,
I’m in such deep stuff after hanging with Micus I don’t even have to pick up the phone. I just speak and they listen.

Since my father had a condo over in North Miami Beach I had the chance to catch a few peacock bass on the fly yeras ago, and it isn’t that far from Davie. If you can obtain a copy of South Florida’s Peacock Bass by Carlos Hildago there’s a bunch of maps that specify which canals have the peacocks& the fly patterns! The C-11 canal or South New River Canal runs parrallel to Griffin Road which is close to the IGFA & Bass Pro Shops just off I-95, but my local knowledge is limited to the Snake Creek Canal off Miami Gardens Drive near Sky Lake, which is about 10 minutes from Gulfstream Race Track & 20 minutes from the Dania " HI-LIE " Jai-Lai sports complex, if it’s still there! Sort of like catching bass on steroids when they strike & fight! Good fishing !

Hey Jed

I am really good at making photos look like I want them… We could do up some that might make D. Micus change his mind… That cute blond model drapped all over him might be enough if we were to hint at sending it to his wife… Let me know if I can help… I know D. Micus is looking for a way out so he could fish more while down there… heheheheheheheheheh

Harold

harold, if you make that pic of me, can i have a small one for my wallet???

Harold,
Thanks, I’ll come right over to be the stand in, in the photo.

Glad to hear the good news in your fight against cancer.
