Going to Ft.Lauderdale Fl this weekend.
Looking for some freshwater fishing
within 20 minutes. Nothing special, just
bass or panfish that will make the rod bend.
My brother wants to get a feel for it too.
Thanks.

Hey MPW,
Do a Google search on peacock bass in
the Dade County canals. There is a DNR
site as well as several more. Maps and
local info included. Warm regards, Jim

I can most definately recommend the canals on Alligator Alley where US 27 crosses US 41 I think. Better check to make sure. It would be on the West side of Ft. Lauderdale. Lots of LMB in there and a few Bluegill but you have got to get into those Oscars. They are like Bluegills on steriods. They will put a bend in the rod and take line. Check my Ft. Lauderdale thread out in this forum.
I was told that the Peacock Bass are over on the East side of Ft. Lauderdale by a guy that lives down there and that I should use a fast strip line retrieve for them unlike the slow retrieve for the Oscars.
Have fun and good luck.
