flyfishing in Minnesota

Hey…

My dad is taking a trip up there to Huntley (?) Minn. and is thinking about doing alittle flyfishing…

is there any lakes close by there (with 75 miles)… and if so are you able to flyfish and what kind of species are there???

Also maybe name a few good flies to use

Thanks Leonard

BUMP

Really need some help on this one!!!

Leonard,
I’m a Mn resident and have been for many years now. Dunno where “Huntley” is. Sorry.

I’ll give you this…there’s good fly fishing on the lakes at any time but now. Things are shutting down…have shut down for FF’ing. It’s winter!

You didn’t specify a timeframe other than the present.

Jeremy.

Thanks for the response Jeremy…

Sorry for not giving a lot of details…

If Im not mistaking… His trip is planned for after this weekend…

Also from what I understand from him…
Please bare with me…

I think he siad it was somewhere close to 90 & 35… not sure though

Huntley, Minnesota is in Faribault County.

Huntley is about 103 miles west, from some nice trout streams, in the SE corner of the Minnesota.

SE Minnesota has some to the nicest mid-USA trout streams. In a Seven County Area, that has Interstate 90 going right thru the middle, you are surrounded by trout streams. These are Limestone Streams, so their waters remain are open year round, with average tempertures of 55 degrees.

There are very few lakes in Faribault County, and this time of year, warmwater fishing is over until there is a the ice gets thick enough to walk on.

Steven…

could you name a few streams, creeks or rivers for me…

and a small list of flies (about 4-6) that are active right now…

Thanks
Leonard

Sorry, Leonard, but the season here ended 30 September. On top of that we just had 3 inches of snow, the wind is blowing hard and the low tonight will be just 6 degrees!

Hey nuthatch,
I smelled the brakes on THAT idea way over here in Illinois. Kinda like Screeeeeeeeetch!
Hey Leonard, it was the thought that counted. I’m impressed that at least you tried to help your dad.
