Fly Rod Question

Dear folks,

I am going to buy 4 wt Redington Crosswater Fly Rod, but what is the difference between 3/4 wt rod and 4/5 wt rod? Redington provides these two options. Is 3/4 wt closer to 3 wt while 4/5 wt to 5 wt? Which rod is better for which purpose or situation? I appreciate your comments.

what’s your target fish? The 4/5 would be a good utility rod, useful for many things and a choice if you are trying to cover several fishing bases.

Not an expert by any means here, maybe some other can offer a better opinion.
I’ve always figured you can under load a rod so
a 4/5 wt rod means you can use either a 4 or 5 wt line with a 5 wt line being matched or preferred.
In other words put a 4 wt line on a 4/5 rod (light line it) you get a faster response.
Put a 5wt line on a 4/5 wt rod and you get a matched or balance cast.

Woops!
Forgot about the reel weight balance.
I’ve noticed the difference between heavy
and ligher weight reel and line combos can make
a big difference on the feel of casting as well.
