Fly of the week... variation

I have tied and fished a variation of the fly of the week that I believe they call a “true woolie worm”. It is tied exactly like the FOTW but with a piece of red chenille in the body. It’s tied with the red tail, grizzly hackle with an alternating black, red and black chenille body. I fished it quite a bit in Maine and NH and the brookies and rainbows loved it. I guess I’ll need to try it here in Arkansas, too.

There is no greater fan of flyfishing than the worm.

And of course a Wooly Worm from Wooly.
I have been tying this version for years. I use either black or grizzly hackle in black or olive, but always with a tail of red buck tail.
