fly line advise

need new line for an 8/9 wt 9ft med/fast rod. Fishing for Atlantic Salmon. Varying conditions and casting distances, as well, I’ll be throwing many different types of flies including large bombers (much like trying to cast a roll of toilet paper:-). I have a classic 444 8wt that has a great presentation but lacks a little beef. I’d like to keep that same soft presentation but with a bit better loading ability. Any advise?

Hiya newfie …

My preferences for Atlantics on a 8wt 10ft Sage XP is the SA Steelhead taper. It mends well and the long belly helps 'cause I roll cast a lot.

Second the WF Ridgeline which I prefer on my Loomis rods. It’s “lighter” than the SA and I like the way it loads.

The jury is still out on the SA Sharkskin. I really like it on the 6wts, but I will try one on the salmon rods this weekend.
