Fly Fishing and the Grateful Dead

Does fly fishing go hand in hand with a love of the Grateful Dead? I’ve noticed over the years a fair number of Dead stickers on vehicles of fly fishers, and I see references to them in posts and signatures. I’m no Dead Head, but I really enjoy them a lot. So what say ye on the Grateful Dead: Yea or Nay?

I say Yea!

(By the way, there is no “wrong” answer…)

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

30 to 40 years ago I was into the Dead along with many other things. Not so much now.

Is it really relevant or does it matter in some way?

Not a big Grateful Dead fan. Couple of songs I liked ok. I did like Jerry Garcia a lot when he delved into bluegrass. Check out “Old and in the Way”.
Most folks I’ve had a conversation with about the Dead said you had to be into halluciogenics to really enjoy them.
Was never there.

Bob

Well, being the “Sound Off” forum, does it have to be? If it doesn’t belong, I have no problem with a Mod deleting it.

It’s just something I’ve noticed over the years. I can assure you that hallucinogenics are not needed to enjoy them, but I can imagine the appeal.

I admit it , I am a dead head you likely saw us at our favorite stream…

Not a big fan of the Grateful Dread.

Dang, Steve! I’d remember that truck of yours if I saw that, sticker or no sticker. I love that truck, just from the photos on here.

 Just Truck’n…good music ( of any kind) = good time on the water!!

Truckin you bet!

Oh yea. Love the Dead.

I used to be a fan of the Greatful Dead. Things changed a lot when Jerry Garcia passed away. He made and played really cool guitars. It’s too bad that drugs were their driving force, but they made good music. I would have loved to see what they would have morfed into in this day and age. Too bad for sure.

Sweet !!

thanks Steve your post reminded me

PaDave/ohiofly,

Never got into the Dead in the past, don’t know why, cuz I do like them now! Thanks for the link. I’ll check them out on Pandora Radio.

Best regards, Dave S.

My collection runs the gauntlet from Chris Laduex, Johnny Cash, A little Bach and Betoven (sp), to Manheim Steamroller, and on to Guns and Roses, Iron Butterfly, Jesus Christ Super star the rock opera, Tommy the rock opera, The Eagles, Brotha IZ, Santana. I think you may get the idea. I know the DEAD are in there also, somewhere.

Byron,

I’ve always said my music tastes run from Meatloaf to Montavoni! LOL!!!

Best regards, Dave S.

gee…i always thought the stickers had been applied by a Former Owner of the vehicle, since most folks don’t go fishing in a conveyance they bought new. silly me!

I like everything from La Traiotta to John Mooney but NEVER liked the Dead or Zepplin but i like to flyfish!—Nice truck!
