You don’t need a two hander to do the cast. try it with your rod and line. it will work well as long as you don’t try to roll with the light running line of a WF. but if you stay short you can learn how to do it with a WF line.

Rich is right. Most of the casts I use with my two handers transfer over to my one handers very nicely.
The river they were fishing is the Skagit in the North Cascades. In my humble opinion, one of the regions most beautiful rivers.

Perfectloop…
I see that you’re from Texas as well. There are a number of folks starting to take up the spey. I know one personally in the East Texas Pineywoods. I also know someone planning on doing a video on spey casting for Bass and other warm water fish. So you’re not as far away as you think from folks who spey cast.
TxEngr
hmmm, this is all interesting and i might have to try it. if it doesn’t work out, i might have to buy another rod/reel and that would SUCK
TxEngr: i live in Houston and there’s been talk of G.Loomis coming out with a two-hander for surf/jetty fishing. sounds cool and i’d like to see that too when it happens. Spey casting for bass sounds very practical since i fish ponds that require casts that either have no backspace, or are a bit far for a normal rod.

and… is there a website that goes over one-handed spey casts? i’d very much like to see how it’s done. thanks!
