Fly Anglers OnLine 16th Anniversary

September 1st 1997; Deanna and Jame Birkholm started one of the longest running fly fishing magazine on the internet…

This is a site that has help newbies to discover that they too can fly fish…

A place were there is place for people to come to and even contribute their own articles on fly fishing…

While other fly fishing sites have come and gone, FAOL remains as the best site for to learn new aspects of fly fishing and learn much of of the forgotten history of fly fishing…

I found FAOL on October 4th, 1997. Since then FAOL has been my home, and I have submitted many articles to FAOL, and have save most of the articles that have been submitted to FAOL, on my computer…

I have met new friends at the FAOL Fish-Ins that member of FAOL came together and learn from each other…

I was the columnist for “Tying Tips” for a few years, and now I center on a annual “Beginner’s Only Fly Swaps” each year starting in November and ending in April…

I do these swaps in honor of my mentor on FAOL, Al Campbell!

I only work only for one person, Deanna Travis, my friend and publisher…

I would be lost if there was no Fly Anglers On Line…

Well said and I totally agree on how great FAOL is and I do appreciate all you have contributed to FAOL. Without some dedicated people, FAOL would no longer exist. Each day I look forward to logging in to see what is going on. FAOL is my “daily fix” and I enjoy it.

Happy Birthday to FAOL. Jim

What a great site. You folks have continued, and raised, the quality, even without Jim and Al. Kudos to you all.

Chuck

I do these annual fly swap in memory of my mentor Al Campbell…

Thank you all very much. I visit this site almost everyday. I have learned a great deal from everyone here.

Thank you

Happy Anniversary FAOL. Thank you Deanna for creating a place that shares knowledge.

Other boards come and go ( see Winston Forum ) thanks for being here and congratulations !!!

PT/TB

I visit this board almost every day, and have since I took up the sport and found FAOL -with the exception of a period when I was not wanted here due to a misunderstanding. I feel that this board is a true blessing to fly fishers of any skill level, but especially to newbies. Th archives here are a treasure house!

Board traffic has dropped off significantly on all fly fishing ones I visit in the past few years. I think that is more due to the novelty of being able to go on line and converse with fly fishers of all levels has dropped off.

I gratefully thank all responsible for making FAOL available to me. I truly hope the site will prosper long term. If it does reach a point where current updates and postings no longer make the site financially viable, I’ll be among those who contribute to keeping the archives available to newbies. It is just too darn valuable to let it disappear – ever!

Congrats and may it last to infinity! Celebrating my 10th. anniversary here this year also. If there’s a better similar site I haven’t found it yet.

Thanks to all our loyal readers for their congratulations. FAOL is not a money maker but we continue to put up a new issue every two weeks because of our loyal readership. We are glad that you enjoy our efforts.

The Chronicler
Editor, FAOL

Let me add to the congratulations. This is only “general” (i.e., not regional or special interest) fly fishing forum which I still read. Keep up the good work.

Happy 16th, FAOL, may it continue for centuries, somebody has to help all the newcomers, cause us OLD Timers won’t be around to help. Thanks for being here for everyone taht needs you, John.
