Florida Fish-In 2008

If anyone heading to the Florida Fish-In 2008 wants to try their hand at some freshwater kayak fishing, let me know. I’ll gladly try to shake free for a day or two to help out. I’ve got the kayaks. All you’ll need is a light fly rod (2-4-weight).

We could do Lake Manatee or even a trip to The Everglades for the exotics (Mayan cichlids, oscars … plus bass, bluegill and Stumpknocker).

The only charge on The Everglades trip would be to split gas and maybe a beer (or two).

No cost to FAOLers during the Fish-In for a local trip.

Here’s a feature story on Everglades fly fishing: http://www.flyanglersonline.com/

Thanks Gibby for some great freshwater flyfishing options for bass, crappie & Tamiami Trail exotics from the usual backcountry saltwater forays up the creeks or on the flats. There’s just so much water to fish in Florida, from off the beaches for spanish mackeral & albacore to the flats for redfish, snook, trout & what ever else swims by; it’ll just depend on who wants to fish for what when & how long it’ll take them to get there from the Venice area !

While one won’t need all of these for the Florida Fish-In, there are more than the basic bendbacks, clousers, decievers & seaducers widely used for a wide range of the different salt species available on the fly !

If you are attending the VERY informal FL Fish-In 08, stop in & see Kevin at Casey Key Anglers & Outfitters for information packets. Some of the info is a bit outdated ( fishing regs, etc. ) as they are the ones from the 06 Fish-In. Still have enough info for Lee, Charlotte & Sarasota county boating, kayaking & fishing access plus more ! http://www.caseykeyanglersandoutfitters.com
