My attempts to build my own have been halted…if anyone has a rod holder that can be mounted on a float tube, even if it is homemade pm me with a price.
Thanks
Janus
Janus…here’s the info on the holder I showed you in your original thread…you should be able to find one…I felt the price was very reasonable but don’t remember what it was…

Hey thanks I will look into them…
I have one – got it from Bass Pro for around $19. Works fine.
i stick the butt end of my fly rod into one of the pockets on either side and then zip it shut. instant fly rod holder at no extra cost! ![]()
Normand wanted the ability to take two rods out one floating one sinking not sure if this would work…
I also do as Normand does…been known to have two setups in each side pocket…believe they were designed with rod storage in mind …pockets are external…Oh…did I say I hate changing flies?:p:rolleyes:.

For a few bucks more, you can get a Scotty.

The nice thing about a Scotty is you can use it with different mounts.
SCOTTY!!! But I have one like Duckster also…(the rod holder…the blue Navi is gone;))
I tried the side bags, I don’t like the rod sticking straight out. It works in a pinch, but I prefer the rods up a little more. And like Duck, I hate changing line in the middle of a lake.

Cool thing is, I have a couple of the TUBE mounts also, so the holders can multi task.![]()
neat but how many cup holders does it have ![]()
Mine has two…how many does yours have Duck? One for the shot and one for the chaser:roll:
heres a rod holder for ya

Get a Scotty for a lot of reasons.
First of all, you can adjust the position of the rod. I carry mine so the tips face rearward and the rods are almost parallel to the water which helps a LOT when I launch or work areas with a lot of trees.
Second, the strap mount has two straps and doesn’t slide around as much as other mounts when secured on the tube.
Third, they make both fly rod and regular rod holders that fit in the same base. If you also fish with spinning or baitcasting tackle you’ll love that feature.
Fourth, they made clamp mounts for the same rod holders. That allows me to use the SAME rod holders I use in my float tube, in a canoe or Jon boat.
Last but not least, Scotty offers a THREE rod holder but not a two but don’t despair, they will sell you JUST the little piece that is mounted on the bar that holds the three rod holder bases. What I did was, mount that part on a piece of aluminum flat stock with stainless steel machine screws by drilling and tapping the aluminum. After that I mounted TWO bases on to the top of the flat stock and VOILA, I have a Scotty two rod holder. ![]()
The bottom line is, while the Scotty may not be the least expensive option. It allows me incredible flexibility because once again, all rod holders fit in the same base. So I can carry one fly rod or conventional rod in the single base on the float tube strap, or I can pop in the two rod adapter and carry two fly rods, two conventional rods or a combination of both. Or if I ever feel the need for three rods. I can buy the Scotty THREE rod holder or even make a FOUR rod holder adapter.
If you are interested, I can try and dig up the holder and post some pictures although I just moved into a new home a few weeks ago so I’m still in LOTS of boxes. I also would be willing to help you build one by telling you what parts to buy.
I knew Zonker…what a great guy and really MISSED. Thought he had it beat, but the C won another.
Thanks for that link.
