The float trip went well. Didn’t have to paddle during any times of water generation so I don’t have a report on fast-moving water(fortunately). Basically during no generation the Little Red in Arkansas is a ‘lazy river’, making for great trout fishing.
The Ultimate did very well. Was extremely stable and yet agile enough to handle some decent-moving water. I paddled right up a qucker-moving section with no problem at all. Actually I was surprised it was that easy to do. Please keep in mind nothing was moving FAST.
My make shift anchor(a small towing receiver grabbed at the last moment) worked surprisingly well.
My buddy took his 8 year old boy with him in his U-12 and it worked out perfectly. He sat against the gunnel facing his Dad and it looked like they did just fine. I think they even switched a time or two.
Caught about 35 trout in 2 days. Not bad for me. Only been at this for a couple of years now.
Can’t wait to do it again!
