flip fins vs force fins throwdown

You say Force Fin XL , so you don’t have the upper end ones that one size fits all. The ones with the neoprene upper and heal.
There is a difference in the Force Fins, just thought I would throw that into the mix.

I have used the Omega’s and they are awesome. Worth getting rid of my UPPER END Force Fins for?..Nope.

FlyGodess, you are correct. My Force Fins in XL are adjustable at the heel only and have the fixed boot cup. That is the primary reason they don’t fit the boots well at all. I’ve not be lucky enough to use the upper end model that has the adjustable heel strap AND adjustable forefoot cup. I have seen those but having a set of nice force fins and omega navigators I can’t justify making that move. There is a difference in kicking with them too. With my navigators they tend to prefer a longer range of motion, which at times brings the tip of the fin very close to the surface. Carelessness in this regard will cause a lot more surface disturbance and put spooky ones down. The force fins work well with a shorter kick or pull stroke. There certainly is a difference in how they work but until your post it was unclear to me if anyone posting before you had compared the two or were just offering their preference. I tried to offer both a comparison and my preference.

In my float tube I will tend to go aqua sock and force fins, but not always. In my pontoon boat I will go with omega navigators 99% of the time. They seem to offer more propulsion.

Want to loan me your adjustable force fins to make me a convert? I’d like to try them out. I’ve come so close to pulling the trigger on buying some but I just can’t do it.

It sounds like an “A” and a “B” choice, both being ultimate. You already have one of the Ultimates, I would stop there
I get the idea of a LONGER fin in a pontoon. That would make a big difference.

Stopping would be a great idea. I’m pretty sure that is not a possibility for me though, truly addicted. I guess that is a no on the force fin adjustables…I’ll keep finding them and try to keep myself from dropping the cash to pick them up. Thanks for the perspective!

Well Mumbles, I was going to suggest you do what I did…sell the fixed size FF and get the adjustable…[I’ve got a big foot]…but I see you already have a post in the for sale section:D:D…take a look folks…

Yea, but after reading how they hurt his feet, I don’t want them…LOL:D:D:D

thanks for the replies

i ordered the adjustable deluxe force fins from cabelas with a 5-8 day pick up at the east hartford, ct store. i might even pick up a pyramid anchor while there

again thanks,

norm

Found myself a seller with a used set of the super gizmo force fins with adjustable foot cups…found a buyer for my fixed cup sized ones. Still hanging on to my Omega Navigators. I think I’ve upgraded my fin section for about $20!

Working in the manufacturing fields I can just see that hinged, moveable deally failing when …you need it most.

It goes like that!

FORCE FINS here. (I’ll wear out B/4 they will.)

Jeremy.

I have a condition called Drop Foot. I can’t lift the front of my foot or the toes on my left foot off the ground. There is no such thing as curling my toes up for me. So, I think I would be better off using the Flip Fins just to get the toes of my fins up off the ground. They are a great idea. I just wish they were more affordable.

What about these…supposed to be easier to walk in…

We sold those at Orvis. They are good for a pontoon, but a float tube where you want more kick, I think a bigger fin.
Plus they have felt on them which could be a problem in the future if not already.

Just my opinion. Oh and I wanted a pair when I first saw them, but then I got the FF.
Those would be cool on standing platforms though.
