Flash Tails

I like to use “non-traditional” materials to get new/different looks to some of my favorite patterns. I use 3/4” flat sequins for this pattern. I cut the sequin to the shape of a fish’s tail, then I attach it to the hook shank with a 30mm long Gamechanger link. I cut off the closed-loop end of the link and tie it to the hook shank, leaving enough room to give the tail plenty of action. Then, I slip the tail on the open end of the link. This allows me to replace or change the tail in just a few seconds if I want to. Sometimes a little bit of extra action or a bit of flash makes the difference between a strike or a pass. This is a productive pattern for me here in Central Florida, but I suspect that gamefish across all areas would also find it enticing. I call this pattern a Flash Tail for obvious reasons and thought I’d share one of my personal favorite patterns.

Very interesting idea. Will look for the sequins.
