Fishing the Henry's Fork

No big Green Drakes today,
Had to go with smaller fare like these.

New plaque at the upper end of The a ranch in Last Chance

Have to enlarge this a little. An idea of the size.

They hide in the water and then they hide in the net.

Thanks for taking the time to share, it is appreciated

A Green Drake nymph on the river.

Got Will Godfrey and Rene Harrop to pose for a photo. Two great fishermen and fly tiers!

Good Green Drake and PMD hatch on Lower Henry’s Fork this AM

Both bows and browns this morning.

Byron, Will Godfrey is a close friend of mine, a heck of a neat guy, great steelhead fisher, really good fly tyer and he has written a couple very interesting books ahd he is a very good auctioneer for non-profit groups, including the Henry’s Fork Foundation. Glad you had a chance to meet him. Larry —sagefisher—

Larry,
I went to his shop when he owned it in Last Chance. His may have been the first one here in Last Chance. I think he was a State Senator too.

Both stages on the water this morning:

Fishing was pretty slow on The Ranch today. Did manage a decent rainbow this morning.

Nice photo’s Byron! Sounds like an all-around awesome trip!

aa

Nice to get to see you Byron, all I have ever seen were the jaws of your vise lol lol

PS
Nice fishies

The Firehole River where one of the geyser basins dump into.

And Old Faithful

Upper Mesa Falls on the Henry’s Fork, preventing the browns from the lower river of traveling to the upper river.

A wader wash station in the parking lot at the top of The Ranch on the Henry’s Fork.

Caught a pretty rainbow this morning

Very nice Byron, you are one lucky son of a gun. Love the photo of the falls.

Another nice rainbow, but thinner

My son and I fished the Gardner River, just outside the town of Gardiner.
We stopped in Parks Fly Shop.
Picked up my copy of Walt Weise’s new book. It was late in the evening. Walt was not there, but got a photo with Richard Parks, the son of the original owner.
Also snapped a pic of Walt’s tying station and see he ties with a Jvice.

The hillsides at Gardiner.

We caught 3 species on the Gardiner. In one little run, we caught: Brown, Rainbow, and Cutts.
My son with a typical Gardiner fish, although, there are some big fish in the deep holes.

Byron looks like a great trip. The number on on my bucket list.
