Fishing the Divide

We have been at Henry’s Lake all week. Staying at the Red Rock Camp ground which is awesome.
Weather when we got here was cold and windy, limiting our time on the water, but we did fish some rivers to get out of the wind

Beautiful sunsets every night

OH an even though it warmed up to unseasonable WARM July type weather, the fish are still willing to play
Here is a little sample:

And ONE of the Hogs…this one at 28+" and 8 lbs

All release quickly and carefully to GROW!!!

awsome!!!

Looks like you had it pretty well wired Joni. Did big Al catch anything? Where are HIS pictures.

I look at that fish and I see lunch.
I understand minimum fish sizes, but this whole catch and release thing confuses me… Whatever happened to catch and eat?

I still remember my teen years in Vermont ice fishing for perch.
The group would catch quite a few, and then we’d clean them and cook them and eat them. And they were fantastic. Unless the fish wasn’t worth eating, I don’t get it.

I’d say if you want to eat fish, keep a couple to eat. If you don’t, put them back. Not everyone likes to eat fish. I know, because I don’t like the taste of freshwater fish. Show me the beef, or better yet, BBQ’d pork!

That was a hog of a Cutbow. Are you catching any Brookies? I didn’t get to fish there all summer. Might have to run up some Saturday. Enjoy the rest of your time there.
Jon

Great fish and scenery, Joni. Looks like a great place.

FG, well done! Sounds like a great trip. PM me with what you were using and what seemed to work on those big pigs. We had a great early season on Henry’s, but I haven’t been back.
Also, what river stretches did you fish and how did you do?
Anyway, great report, thanks for sharing.

Kelly.

FG, I HATE YOU!!!

One o these days i’m gonna get there.

Great stuff, keep it up please.

Rich

No Brookie on this end, and not from lack of trying.
My brother in-law netted two. Just so dang windy when we try that area.

I am all for keeping a nice fresh trout on occasion. I prefer river trout though, as Lake trout can taste like …well, the LAKE.

I know I will never starve…

As far as flies…well we are leaving tomorrow and it will be another year before we are back.
Here there are.

  1. Lynn Scotts Halloween Soft Hackle
  2. Bill Schiess “Hot Chocolate”
  3. Henry’s Lake Renagade
  4. Haresear
  5. Olive Crystal Woolly bugger with black tail and hackle.

Lines…Intermediate and Wet Cell 2 and 3.

Hey Mojo -

Don’t take Ron’s comment seriously - he is just “baiting” you.

Joni -

Glad you guys had a good time.

Now, that comment about “never starving” ?? IF THAT AIN’T JUST BEGGING FOR A SKUNK, I don’t know what would be.

John

Sweet report!

I hope I have good luck there this weekend. But honestly not being a stillwater guy we will see. It will be the first time I am going to fish stillwater from my tube (that I got almost a year ago  )

You know, that looks just too much like fun! Great photos and looks and sounds like you had a great time. Those sure are some nice fish.

Lewie, I held my own. I even have a few pictures to prove it.

Don’t let him fool you…I won’t let him catch fish:wink::lol:

Wow, those are some increadible fish. Thanks for the report. Need to get there one of these years. Wow.

Beaver

Don’t let him fool you…I won’t let him catch fish:wink::lol:

With a little effort, I could start a war here. OK, lets see the pictures of those stunted fish Mojo. We won’t laugh, or hurl insults, or anything. We’ll just be grateful that we aren’t married to ol’ Flywhatshername.

Good job Mojo and Goddess!!!

Those are some nice fish.

Salmon are for catching and eating!

Trout are for catching and catching and catching and catching and catching and catching!
