Fishing the Catt (Fish Porn)

Man o man…those are beautiful fish!! Good for you guys…I guess you can call them Fish Porn…great description. i assume these cam after the much-needed rains upstate (I’m from L.I.)

AHHHHHHHH. Now that’s a good way to start the morning.

TT.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!

For all of you Western States folks, that’s just a sampling of what you get here along “Steelhead Alley.” I stopped by the Chagrin River in Willoughby, Ohio to eat my lunch today, and saw six fish landed in 1/2 hour. Several more were hooked and lost.

What we lack in the beauty of the Western rivers and their surrounding mountains, we certainly make up for in numbers of fish available to the steelhead enthusiast. Ahhh, now I need to drag my butt back to work after watching such a beautiful display of fishies coming to hand. Sucks to be me on a beautiful Indian Summer day in NE Ohio.

Joe

How dare you!

Great pix as always. Phil looks as evil as ever.

Where did you get your stats? Northwest WA has many rivers that are loaded with steelhead! Right now, the salmon are spawning so egg patterns work very well. (Steelhead follow the salmon from the ocean into the rivers to feast on the abundance of eggs. Salmon die soon after spawning, so the eggs are unprotected and easy meals for steelhead, sea-run cutts, and dolly varden trout.)

Jim,

Nice looking fish. Very nice of you to pass him around so all your buddies could get a picture.

Seriously, very nice fish. You guys do get higher numbers of steel than we do. If that was all from one trip, it must have been a blast.

Wow! Way to go. I was going to say something stupid like “I could catch fish like that too if I could figure a way to cast a planer board.” But I won’t. Thanks for the pics. They’re great.

Jim,
Nice pictures, nice fish…Best Regards

thanks guys this is only the ones i took pics of all total we got over 40 fish between all of us on sat

Some very serious fish there! Sounds like you had a blast, and I would suspect a few sore and tired arms by the end of the day!

Flyguy,

Now I understand why some Kansans I know will travel great distances to fish for steelhead.

Incredible photos, incredible good times you and your buddies had.

I especially enjoy seeing the discolored water, modest-width river that you caught these fish in. Nice to know that steelhead don’t require a wide, deep, postcard-clear river to swim in.

Joe
“Better small than not at all.”

Greenfish, the same concept of steelhead following the salmon up the river to eat eggs applies to the great lake states.

joe
we are in a state of drought here in ny, the river you see is normally alot bigger. the river was only flowing at 150 cfs where the norm is 300-500 at this time of year.

Guys,

I had a ball, despite falling on my butt and blowing out a wading boot. Can’t wait to head back and do it again! It’s so easy a caveman can do it!

Chris, that’s centerpinning? lol. It was definitely a blast. We sure got into quite a few…and lost quite a few. We’re looking at hitting it again on Saturday.
Paul, You and Jeff could have been there too. I’m not evil…just mis-understood! lol.

I notice a Berkleys Pink Bubblegum plastic worm in that last fishes mouth.
or is that a Umpqua Signature Plastic worm

DuFf

Duffin Boy, that would be Loren William’s Super Juan Worm. No plastic’s here. lol.

I’m bringing a cane pole and dozen night crawlers this weekend!
