I always wonder what Heaven will be like when I’m standing waist deep with a flyrod in my hand… Will we be able to enjoy the things we enjoy now? This may be the answer we hope for:
The prophet Ezekiel had a vision of the Promised Land, (I believe still in our future). In chapter 47 verses 9-10 it says, “It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish…And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the spreading of nets.”
So, the next time you find that secret spot and wonder if that is what Heaven will be like, you may not be far from the truth!!!
Enjoy

J Castwell… found a summary of the story. Interesting. I look forward to your story next week. It is amazing how some things can turn out different than we expect!!! Thanks.
Interesting topic and one that has been
on my mind for the last two weeks. RK and
Al both discussed this shortly before they left us. We made some tentative
plans to fish together when we get there
as we never had the opportunity to do so
here. RK said he’d put me on fish when I
got there. I believe him.G
The reason it's been on my mind for the
last two weeks is that I was diagnosed with
possible lung cancer two weeks ago. While
my doctor told me to keep the faith and not
get too worked up until we got confirmation,
it’s easier said than done. I had pretty
much accepted the inevitable and frankly
that fishing trip was the silver lining.G
Well, today the results of the tests came
back from the hospital after getting lost
for over a week. They were negative which
is a big positive in my humble opinion.
You see, over the last two weeks, I’ve made
a pretty extensive list of things I didn’t
get done and I’ve got my work cut out
for me. But one day, and not too soon I
hope, on the other side of those pearly
gates there will be a FAOL regional fish in.
Bring hooks, and unsweetened Kool-Aid.
There will be plenty of hackle on site.G Warm regards, Jim
I agree with you Jim and I would bet my last fly they have all the hot spots covered. The hooks will be barbless and the waters pristine. No wind, A little drizzle from time to time and the rocks covered with new lavra. Hatches in the am, afternoon and at dusk.
Regards to all here and those in a higher place in our hearts and in the heavens.
Philip
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles." - Doug Larson
First JH glad to here your test was negative. Betty what a great shot. I to hope Heaven is a place that looks like that. A place we all can meet someday.
I remember reading a story where a FFer passed to the other side and found himself wading in a beautiful stream. He soon found himself catching a nice fish on every cast… He continued to cast and every drift brought a hit and another trout exactly the same size. Every cast ! He wasn’t in Heaven!
There’s a lot more about fishing in heaven, for me, than just fish. It’s who I’ll fish with that makes the hereafter…family, friends long departed will be my reward in the Beyond.
And I hope to share a celestial pool with Harry Middleton if I run across him. I really, really do.
All too true buddy. I look forward to
being with my family too. My mom and dad
gave me the passion and I’m eternally
greatful.G
But if there comes a day when our
regulars wings are moulting or the choir
practice has them tied up, what say me and
you sneak off to a good red ear hole. I
think it would be a hoot.G Warm regards,
Jim
I had a sweatshirt made. There’s a huge rainbow and a bunch of flies on it. It says “if there ain’t no trout in heaven, I don’t even want to go there”!
Ol’ Bill
P.S.
I don’t know if there is such a place but if so, There’s gotta be some good fishing and a few good Greek restaurants there.
As for the roads being paved with gold and stuff like that, I’d rather have good black top so I can drive 175 mph.
This is presumptuous though, who said we would make it there. (if there is such a place etc etc etc!)
Hey there Jim H,
Really glad to hear that you’ve been given the good news. You know, Heaven WILL probably be a great place to meet and fish but as for now, I’d prefer to meet and fish with you at the next fish-in. Stay well.
Mark
Trout must be Gods favorite fish because He put them into His most beautiful waters.
So happy to hear that the tests were negative. Although those two weeks had to be tough, but what you came to realize is so precious to us and too many never get a chance to understand that.
