Fishing 101, Part 39: Fly-Fishing Techniques

Fly-Fishing Techniques Wet Fly Swung, Near Surface or Deep

Wet Fly, Swung Near Surface

Cast your wet fly across the river and slightly downstream,
then let the current “swing” the fly until hanging directly
downstream. Take a couple of steps downstream between each
swing, thereby covering all of the water where fish could be

Wet Fly, Swung Deep

Using the same “swinging” technique described above, add
heavier flies and/or sinking lines to get your fly as
deep as is necessary to find fish.
