First voyage of new pontoon

I took the SS Pond Scum out on the water for the first time Thursday. All went well for the shake down cruise.

I posted several more photos on my blog if you’re interested in seeing some shots from the maiden voyage.

Jeff,
Nice 'toon…I LOVE the name!
Saw the pics on your blog. It’s always good to see parents & their younguns spending time together.
Enjoy it!
Mike

Mike,
Thanks. Daniel is my fishing buddy. He’s a pretty good kid. 15 years old and still doesn’t mind being seen in public with the old man. In fact, he’ll usually introduce me to his friends. (not always the girls but hey, I can understand  )

Very nice pontoon. I like the pic’s thinking of doing the same in June.
Would like hear more when you tested the water more.

Doug

Doug,
I’ll be posting updates as I get it out more and work some things out (like where’s the most comfortable place to put stuff, and the like).

Unfortunately, it’s been really windy the past few days (20 - 25mph winds 30mph gusts) which makes it hard to fly fish and even harder to row a boat. Well, rowing the boat one way is pertty easy, going the other way is not so easy.

I’m thinking I may get a trolling motor but want to give it a few outings with the oars first. The boat is so light and handles so well, rowing it isn’t a problem but no matter how fast I paddle, a trolling motor is going to be faster.

Thanks and I will be posting more pictures and write ups as I get it out more and figure some things out.

Jeff

Nice rig, I just squared mine up hoping it will help me row straighter. I have been thinking a rear view mirror to see where I’m going.

I have to ask, your wife didn’t make you buy that toon because it match the van did she. You know she’s the boss.
