My first fishing trip in a long time.
I retired on June 26th of this year and my wife put together a Retirement Party for me. She asked for donations for a fly fishing guided trip for me.
Well, I was very surprised when the time came for the party (unbeknownst to me)!
The total donations enabled me to take 2 half-day guided trips! I could not believe it!!
So, on July 27th my grandson (15 years old) flew up from Utah to here (Missoula, MT) and joined me on a guided trip west of Missoula on the Clark Fork river. We took a raft down the river and had a blast!
I had Pancreatic Cancer surgery on November 5th, 2022. As a result I became diabetic type 2. Both Diabetes and the Chemo gave me neuropathy in my arms, hands, legs and feet. (No Evidence of Cancer since, in all my testing and CTs!!)
I was very worried I would never fish or tie flies again. This trip helped prove to me that I could indeed fish again! I may not be able to walk or stand a lot, but if I took it easy I should be able to fish.
I haven’t tried fly tying yet, hopefully it won’t be too long!
Here is a picture of the Pike I caught and released. We also caught several nice rainbows.
My grandson is flying up again,as we have another trip planned for October 1st - just for Pike; found out our guide is a Pike fanatic, also!
Thanks for looking!
