Finally got my tying station set back up.....

after spending the summer in Colorado.

Took a coiuple of pictures of it before it becomes the tangled mess of hooks, flies, and materials it will surely degrade into once I actually start tying on it…

This is as ‘neat’ as it will ever be:

THAT is pretty organized, Buddy! I’m too ashamed to post pictures of my messy tying area!

… you mean like this, Buddy ??

Now that my dry fly season is over and I won’t be fishing nearly as much, I need to get around to tidying mine up. Won’t be nearly as nice as what yours looks like now, but it will be organized enough that even a stranger would be able to tie flies there.

John

Buddy,
Is that a Sidewinder? Hard to tell. I have one, but it is the weighted base model. Looks similar.
Byron

Mine ain’t as snazzy as you guys lol its portable, but here is how it looks today…

I would take a picture of my space - once I find the camera! If I was closer Buddy I would have you consult on my mess!
Mike

Buddy,

Very nice, very neat. I like your bobbin cradle - Best I’ve ever seen.

Regards,
Scott

Gadzooks! I gotta get to tying. I have tied maybe a dozen flies since I got my new desk in late September. This is about the neatest you will ever see it again…

Buddy,I can see what you will be doing for the next millenium.

Looking good Buddy, now go make a mess!

Brad

I’m ready to start tying.

Might even do a couple of fly of the week type things for the site while the bench is clean enough to not be embarassing.

Byron: the vise is a modified Ron Abby Signature Dyna King.

Scott: got the idea from A.K. Best for that one. Works much better than the ones mounted on the vise stem.

Buddy

My attempts at organization last maybe a day. Craft foam background behind the fly covers a multitude of clutter

Yeah, I recognized it; hence the pun.

Regards,
Scott

Wow Scott…I missed the pun.

I’m just not worthy anymore…

So ashamed. Should have gotten that one.

Buddy

I’ve done over a dozen FOTWs for the bi-weekly edition of the FAOL Home Page with my tying desk looking just like it does in the pic above. Just use a large sheet of appropriately colored foam behind the vice / fly when you take your pix.

John

Buddy,

Forgot to ask earlier - the paintbrush on your desk; do you use it for tailing fibers (economy microfibbets) or for cleanup?

Regards,
Scott

Scott,

That one is for cleanup. Got a whole box of brushes that I pluck for fibers…Actually, I have a whole box of just about everything now…

Buddy

Buddy, the question is “How large is the box?” A shoe box or a shipping container?

Uncle Jesse,

Yes.

Buddy? YES on the Fly of the Week as well. Please!
Hugs, LF

Deana,

Busy season for me right now, but I’m working on it.

Should have something for you guys soon…

Buddy
